The company began life in 1950 as Coor-Pender and Long Co., resulting from a collaborative entrepreneurial effort between Howard Coor- Pender, a pioneer in shop manufactured door and window frames, and Ralph L. Long, the designer and patent holder of Sava-Space pocket door hardware which he manufactured in El Cajon. Joining Coor-Pender to assist him and manage the office was daughter, Marceil.
